Geography, 7B's form teacher

After finishing my studies at the J.A. Komenský Grammer School in Uherský Brod, I graduated from the Pedagogical Faculty of Masaryk University, majoring in mathematics and geography. For eight years I taught at the Josef Bublík Primary School before I was elected mayor of Suchá Loz in 2002. In 2010 I became a Member of Parliament of the Czech Republic. In 2016-2020 I was the Councillor for Education of the Zlín Region and in 2021 I was appointed Minister of Education, Youth and Sports. I was the Chairman of the Czech UNESCO Commission, a member of the Board of Trustees of Charles University and a member of the "think-tank" "Education 21" at Charles University. I spent many years working in the Scouts as a leader of a centre or a troop. I also currently teach at the Faculty of Social Sciences at Charles University.

The shared values that Duhovka has in its genes makes it a unique school. When you walk in, you immediately notice the positive atmosphere that prevails. The Montessori curriculum and the challenge of the International IB Baccalaureate show that it can be done - to create a school differently. I am happy here because: "By caring for the Happiness of others, we find our own." Duhovka is not "just" a school. It's a worldview, an education, and a common direction on life's journey.

"I love the fact that students and teachers are a team in their learning. There's an openness to the teachers within the school that allows for great discussion and lots of opportunity for learning.
I've been at Duhovka since 2016 and within that time I have helped to establish the IB Diploma Programme, building it from scratch to a popular choice for graduating students within Duhovka. As a teacher, I have an outlook on life that allows for a calm demeanour and an enthusiasm for learning that I believe transfers to the students and encourages them to develop themselves.
Although my initial university education is in mechanical engineering, it is in language teaching where I found my calling. In 2011 I obtained the diploma for English language teaching (DELTA) from Cambridge and in 2020 I received a bachelor's degree in Secondary teaching from the American Montessori Society, Over the past few years I have been working closely with other members of the school’s pedagogical leadership team to develop in-house teacher training for Montessori and general approaches to teaching and learning."
